Shipping damage is rare—but proper packaging is key
When your item’s packed properly, damage during transit is unlikely. It’s still important to follow every step carefully, to ensure your buycycle sale arrives in perfect condition:
-
Follow our packaging guide for bikes.
-
Secure all loose parts inside the box.
-
Add extra protection around sensitive areas. Even though our box offers solid protection, we recommend wrapping key components with foam tubing or bubble wrap. Foam pipe insulation works great and is easy to find at any hardware store.
What sellers need to know
-
You’re responsible for safe packaging
If the item’s damaged because it wasn’t packed properly, you may be held liable. -
Insurance is covered through Seller Protection
Carriers won’t insure the item itself. But no worries—buycycle’s Seller Protection covers you and the buyer if something goes wrong during transit. -
We’ll review the damage case
If the buyer reports damage, they’ll send us photos, and we’ll review everything carefully. If it turns out the packaging didn’t meet our standards, we may hold payment and request reimbursement from you.
We know the carrier might sometimes be partly responsible, but our decision will always include an assessment of how well the item was packed.
